Useful information, hints and advice

Yoga is best practised on an empty stomach to prevent discomfort or indigestion. 1-2 hours after a snack or 4 hours after a meal is ideal.  Yoga is practised in bare feet for better control and body awareness.  However, socks are good to keep your feet warm during relaxation.  Any comfortable clothing is suitable.

What to bring

  • A proper Yoga mat helps to prevent you slipping during standing postures and gives you something to sit, kneel or lie down on for the other postures.  It is your space.  Mats are available to loan or purchase.
  • Extra warm clothing or a sleeping bag will keep you warm during relaxation.
  • A blanket cushions your spine for certain postures.
  • A bottle of water ensures hydration as required.
  • A belt or strap may help you achieve some postures.
  • A small cushion or block can also be invaluable.
  • An open mind!
